What is interstitial cystitis? By searching, I have found that the information available is vague at best. Can you provide a little more information on this condition?
The reason you may be having so much trouble may be because little is known about this puzzling and mysterious chronic disease. Interstitial cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder wall.
The condition also has been called painful bladder syndrome or frequency-urgency-dysuria syndrome. The symptoms include urinary urgency, urinary frequency due to decreased bladder capacity, pain and discomfort in and around the bladder and pain during sexual intercourse.
Nine out of 10 patients with the disease are women, typically in their 20s, 30s and 40s. The cause is unknown and there is no cure. Treatments are aimed at relieving the symptoms.
