Your Appearance After A Hair Transplant Procedure
Due to the efforts of hair research, the discovery of hair transplant surgery has been proven to give the best results of all hair restoration techniques. With hair transplantation, you will be able to manage hair loss, witness your hair growing on your own head and maintain it.
Micro-grafting offers many benefits to those who want to undergo this procedure. Primarily, it is a celebrated cosmetic procedure because it gives a more natural appearance. It is a relatively low-risk procedure since medical complications are seldom recorded. In addition, actual hair reconstruction for one session takes only about 4 hours.
After the surgery
You are required to visit your doctor in about a week after the surgery provided complications don’t occur immediately. That is the how your doctor will usually schedule your next check-up.
This will be the time that your surgeon removes sutures from your donor site(s). This process is painless, and will not take long. Your scalp will be inspected to see if the wounds are healing well and additional medication will be prescribed if needed.
The New Hair
What is the appearance of your hair after transplantation? You will be interested to know how your hair will look like. Some known specifics are identified here. These are the usual results that turn out after the treatment.
Give yourself at least a week for the relocated hair follicles to grow new hairs. Before that, the old hairs that are in the follicles will normally fall out. This is no cause for alarm. Hair will fall because the transplanted follicles will go into the resting stage. The resting stage is a natural tendency because the follicle has to recover from the shock of being cut.
Typically, the transplanted follicles will immediately begin to build up new connections to the blood supply. Each follicle will form new attachments into blood vessels in order for it to thrive. After fully set into the new surroundings, it will stabilize as the surrounding tissue feeds it. This allows new growths of hair to emerge.
The Growth Rate
As its true nature, your hair grows slowly. Your new hairs will normally grow at the rate of about 1/2 inch per month. It grows just like all other hairs on your head.
Give yourself about four to six months for the transplanted follicles to grow hairs long enough. After the sixth month you achieve more length of the transplanted hairs. The growing rate is the same as your natural hair. The full growth and complete healing process is fully achieved in 12 months. Then you will begin to see that these new outgrowths can supply more thickness to your hair. The transplanted follicles will grow new hairs permanently from then on. In addition, the hair will not require special maintenance.
Micro-grafting transplants can be repeated after six months. If you want to add more density to your hair then you can submit yourself to another series of transplants. This is done after the six-month threshold is achieved. The space of six months between sessions allows for adequate time to heal, but not enough to completely stabilize the tissues.
Factors that affect the appearance of hair
There are several important factors to consider as you look forward to receiving this procedure. Aside from the general requirements of being healthy and stable, you should see that you understand the possible outcome.
One element that affects the resulting form is based on the density of your hair. If originally, you have a higher number of hair follicles per square centimeter your hair will look thicker because more grafts can be done with it.
Another element to consider is the flexibility of your scalp. If your scalp is loose, it will affect the density of hair. Moreover, if you have coarse hair, it tends to provide more coverage for the scalp. Finer hair has lesser coverage. Consider also that curly hair provides more coverage because it actually stands up from your scalp compared to straight hair that falls flat on the head. Straight hair will be a real challenge for your doctor.
There is no concrete picture of how the transplant will come out but there are doctors that offer Digital Imagery of the results. You should discuss this with your doctor extensively to achieve the best from your process.
