What is a Vegetarian?

There are several, varying definitions of what can be considered a vegetarian. After all, there are certain classifications of vegetarians themselves. However, it is mainly a conscious effort to reduce the intake of all or certain types of meats or animal products.

The choice is to implement a diet that consists mainly of vegetables and less of meat and products that contain ingredients with animal products.  Therefore, their diet consists mainly of leafy greens, vegetables, and other vegetarian alternatives to meat such as tofu and tempeh.

Apart from all the other reasons why people campaign for vegetarianism,  health reasons are the main point stressed by these advocates.

To better understand the various classifications of vegetarians and how their diets vary, they are listed below:

1.    Semi-vegetarian – this type of vegetarian allows the intake of meat, or certain types of meat, but only in limited amount

3.    Vegans – they do not consume animal products such as dairy products, egg, or honey

4.    Raw Veganism – their diet typically includes raw fruit, vegetables, seeds, or nuts; they believe that enzymes present in the food are reduced or eliminated in the process of cooking
