Otoplasty – Ear Reshaping

Ear reshaping or otoplasty is a procedure done to enhance the shape of your ears. Several people feel a psychological impact of misshapen or protruding ears. This can cause embarrassment and people tend to cover their ears with their hair.

Otoplasty is one of the older cosmetic surgery procedures, which dates back during the late 19th century. The procedure is straightforward and can provide you with the confidence you need.

The procedure is normally performed for the purpose of setting prominent ears back closer to the head though it can also be sued to reduce the size of seemingly large ears. Also, it involves the removal of the skin and reshaping of the cartilage located just behind the ears. The ears will then be stitched into the new position. You would be happy to know that the incision marks used for the procedure will be cleverly concealed in the natural crease also located behind the ear.

After undergoing the 2 to 3-hour procedure, you would be required to wear bandages around your ears for about one week. The stitches will be removed also after a week and you would be able to see the results immediately.
